So it's like this - part 2

In April of  '16 I wrote this post

Once again, life as I knew it changed & my art came to a stand still. I closed my etsy shop.  After months of therapy I was able to pick up my art  supplies. I began reworking & experimenting with 2 pieces I no longer cared for, & liked the result.  I ended up making a few more mixed media landscapes. I like the simplicity of these pieces and the more subdued color palettes.

I still have trouble painting. Since I paint on the kitchen counter & stove top, setting up, painting, then cleaning up so I could prepare dinner, and setting up again - well it's just to difficult for me  these days.

But there is good news that has come from all this, & I'll share the news in a future post :)

He says "up", I say "across"

I  had a 4x6 stretched canvas that was a little bit loose, & my normal hot water/shrink it remedy didn't make it tight enough to suit me. So this provided me with the perfect opportunity to play without the guilt  of ruining a good canvas experimenting.  This is done in acrylic with one strip of teal artisan paper.

The work in progress.  At this point, I really like it.  side notes} I protect my kitchen counter & stove top with a black vinyl tablecloth  I picked up at the dollar store,(they were out of white).   My palette is made of paper plates covered with foil, when finished I flip the foil over & have a clean palette.) 

I turned the painting vertically adding just a few more accents & then called this finished. ((OH and to my surprise, the acrylic mediums I used, seems to have tightened up the canvas!))

My husband likes this vertical & while I really like it that way, I lean towards  horizontal. I can see it both ways.  Would you please give me your opinion as to which way looks best?

A few months ago I received  a note in my etsy shop from Tabitha from DecoArt, asking me if I wanted to join the the DecoArt Design Team. I did some research & learned about their new line of professional artist acrylic resin paints, Traditions , which I can attest to are simply wonderful!  Lots of questions & several emails later I officially joined their design team. 

What does it entail? Just creating art!  I am offered an assignment to create something using a particular product or perhaps a theme, take photos of it and write out detailed instructions. I then send my art to DecoArt & they send me a check! How wonderful to get paid for what you love to do!
A couple weeks after I joined I was surprised by a huge box from DecoArt filled with  their complete line of Traditions paint plus other mixed media art supplies! Have to say I really love the Traditions line, they are a dream to paint with!!! LOVE them!

Here's my art corner in the kitchen. My husband was going to make a shelf for my new paints but when we were shopping he saw the clear plastic replacement drawer for a fridge that would work perfectly.  All he had to do was drill holes in it and voilà! a terrific shelf!
